Yahoo will launch its overhauled home page in the UK later this week, with an emphasis on the ability to add third-party services from providers including Google and Facebook.
The new home page, first revealed last October (nma 2 October 2008), has been brought forward from a planned September launch as Yahoo aims to increase both traffic and ad revenue to gain ground on rivals including Google and MSN.
The portal will build on the success of personalisation service My Yahoo by making it easier for visitors to add services and apps from Yahoo and other providers.
There will also be the ability for users to update their social network status from the portal, as well as a larger search box with a list of suggested popular queries.
The new home page will mark the first major consumer-facing changes to Yahoo since the appointment of CEO Carol Bartz in January.
